Steam free download is Ghost Of Tsushima meets Baldur’s Gate 3

Combining the turn-based combat of Baldur’s Gate 3 with the feudal Japan setting found in Ghost of Tsushima, this upcoming tactical RPG is guaranteed to appeal to fans of both.

Developed by Another Angle Games, Shadow of the Road is an upcoming “story-driven, turn-based RPG where feudal Japan meets magic and machine.”

“Assemble your team from a diverse set of characters and test your skills against yōkai and steampunk contraptions. Carve your own path through an immersive story and change the fate of the Empire,” the official Steam synopsis reads.

And it is Steam that we are talking about today as Shadow of the Road is now free to download and try out ahead of its unannounced release thanks to a new demo.

As mentioned, fans of Baldur’s Gate 3’s turn-based combat will love the same style found in Shadow of the Road but, of course, this time we are heading to feudal Japan which will appeal to lovers of Ghost of Tsushima and more recently, Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

In Shadow of the Road, you will step into 1868 Japan in a land fiercely divided by a brutal civil war.

“Amidst this turmoil, warriors, spies, and mystical beings navigate a world where magic and machinery intertwine, the jarring contrast of tradition and technology permeating even the landscape, where weathered, ancient temples stand alongside towering steam-powered machines.”

This free demo will allow the player to experience three fights, including one boss fight. Additionally, they will be able to explore both a tea house and a manor to get a feel of the type of environments found in the game.

Much like Baldur’s Gate 3, you will be able to take charge of and control multiple characters, each with their own unique abilities.

“Each team member brings their own distinctive set of skills and abilities to the battlefield. Even their personal goals and relationships influence every encounter.

If you can master these social and strategic dynamics, then you and your team will no doubt dominate the battlefield," the description reads.

Not only that, Shadow of the Road is your story and therefore, all of your choices make an impact as you explore a country torn between heritage and modernisation.
