Steam drops free download for game that’ll take over 200 hours of your life

Goodbye free time

I’ve come to accept that my gaming backlog is never going to get any shorter.

In the time I play a game, at least an additional three have joined the pile.

But you know what? There’s peace in accepting that I’ll never catch up.

In my liberation, I can start as many games as I want and I never feel guilty, which is good because the game that I'm going to recommend to you today is an absolute time sink.

If you’re a fan of strategy or resource management titles, then you may want to check out Wube Software’s Factorio.

Heck, even if neither of those genres are your go-tos, I’d say Factorio is still worth a go.

Yes, I hear you. Factorio has been around since 2020, but that doesn’t make it any less worthy of getting a shoutout now - especially as you can sample the game for free on Steam.

ICYMI: LEGO Horizon Adventures launches today on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 5.

“Factorio is a game about building and creating automated factories to produce items of increasing complexity, within an infinite 2D world,” the synopsis reads.

“Use your imagination to design your factory, combine simple elements into ingenious structures, and finally protect it from the creatures who don't really like you.”

Honestly, no description can do justice to the wonderful chaos that is running your fully fledged automation empire.

It’s an assault on the eyes at times but that’s part of the fun - keeping up with the million and one things you have going on.

If you don’t believe me, you need only look at critic and user reviews.

Factorio has a score of 90 over on Metacritic and an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating of 97% on Steam.

As I mentioned, it’s totally free to try as Steam is home to a free demo.

If you do like what you play, the full game will set you back £30.

As a warning, it does take over 92 hours to complete, according to HowLongToBeat, with completionists putting in around 216 hours.

Usually I’d say that’s this weekend’s entertainment sorted, but maybe it’s entertainment sorted for the entirety of 2025.
