One of Steam’s most positively reviewed games, Stardew Valley, is getting an exciting new update at no additional cost.

If you somehow haven’t heard of Stardew Valley, it’s a charming farming simulator game that sees the player move from the big city to a decrepit bit of farmland out in the countryside. Over time, you rebuild the farm, growing and harvesting crops, meeting new friends, and discovering the secrets of the surrounding area.

It was immensely popular when it was released all the way back in 2016 on Steam, before receiving console ports to Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo consoles sometime later. Its popularity hasn’t dwindled over the years thanks to several free updates adding loads of new content, with another on the horizon.

The game’s developer, ConcernedApe, recently posted a tweet with some of the upcoming features that’ll be found in the 1.6 update, which includes new items, dialogue options, a festival, more secrets to find and more which is yet to be shared.

Stardew Valley fans were thrilled, as many had been patiently waiting for news on the update which was officially announced months ago, with only a slow trickle of new information since then hinting at what it could include.

“It makes me so happy you're still updating this wonderful game”

“I don’t think I’ve ever got this much value out of a game before. I’ve bought it on multiple platforms and gifted it to tons of people and still feel like I’ve gotten so much value out of it!”

“thanks so much for this! this is like the game that keeps on giving”

ConcernedApe hasn’t provided a release date for the next big update, though it’s entirely possible that it’ll release sometime this year. In the meantime, fans will have to keep an eye on Twitter for future updates.

Stardew Valley is currently available on PC via Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
