Steam has dropped yet another set of free gifts, one of which you can actually make some money off.

If you didn’t know, World of Tanks recently dropped its 2.0 update, majorly overhauling the game.

Wargaming has called the update its “most ambitious update in World of Tanks history”, with the release marking the debut of new Tier XI tanks, a redesigned Hangar and UI, rebalanced vehicles, a “next-generation matchmaker”, as well as a new story-driven PvE mode set on a new map.

And that’s just to name the update’s highlights. You can view more extensive patch notes on the game’s website.

“2.0 isn’t just an update - it’s a cornerstone of the game’s future evolution that will define World of Tanks development for years to come,” publishing director Michael Broek said in a blog post.

“We’re excited to share with our players the results of the team’s hard work over the past two years. Whether you’re new to the game, a seasoned veteran, or returning to the fight, with Update 2.0 there’s no better time to play World of Tanks.”

As for those free gifts, Steam users who tune into the ongoing World of Tanks stream for 10 minutes will bag themselves an animated profile background and two mini profile backgrounds.

You just need to make sure that you’re logged into your Steam account during those 10 minutes.

The two mini-profile backgrounds are known as ‘Diversity’ and ‘Superiority’.

And then there’s the ‘Calamity’ profile background which is actually marketable, meaning you can sell it on the Steam Community Market.

Given that it’s currently free to grab right now, you’re probably not going to make a very good profit, but that could change one day.

So even if you aren’t a World of Tanks fan, perhaps you could view this simply as a potential investment.

There’s no word on how long the stream is set to last for; it’s already been running for a few days so I’d act sooner rather than later if you do want to get involved.

As they say, better safe than sorry.
