Steam drops 2 free downloads you can claim now in special giveaway

A pair of freebies

Steam users have been blessed with a pair of freebies as part of a generous giveaway from Valve.

Anyone who frequents Steam will know the drill by now, you can customise your profile with images and frames purchased from the Steam Points Shop to make it look extra snazzy to other players.

Unfortunately the points you earn from making purchases can’t be put towards discounts on the latest releases, as much as we’d like that to happen

While most of the time you need to purchase these profile accessories for yourself Steam will offer some out for free every now and then as part of limited-time offers, usually celebrating some sort of milestone or special event.

This month is no different as it’s the start of the Lunar New Year, and as a result you’re being given two freebies to mark the occasion.

These include an emoticon as well as an animated sticker, both of which sport a snake getting real cosy inside a blanket, as it’s the Year of the Snake now on the lunar calendar.

Seems like there’s a bit of confusion amongst users surrounding the emoticon as many believe that’s a new feature from Steam, so it sounds like a nice reward.

As always you can’t do much with these, they’re just a token of appreciation for those who like collecting them, and again it’s nice to mark special occasions with them.

If you’re looking for other freebies on the Steam store though you’re in luck as there’s always something on offer.

This includes free games to play but these are mostly indies rather than the AA or AAA variety handed out by the Epic Games store, but you also have access to the latest game demos of released and upcoming titles, like Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii for example.
