If you’re looking for some PC RPGs to help pass the time this weekend then look no further than these Steam demos.

The chances of wasting your hard-earned money can often be drastically reduced thanks to the glorious playable demo, a benefit we’ve been blessed with since the wonder of the demo discs in the 1990s on PC and PlayStation.

Check out the Dynasty Warriors: Origins trailer below!

Nowadays, as much as I loved the demo disc of yesteryear, accessing free playable demos has never been easier, whether we play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo. With that in mind, here are eight new(ish) RPG demos that you can download and play this weekend, courtesy of Steam.

  • Dynasty Warriors: Origins - “Become immersed in exhilarating battles as a nameless hero in the Three Kingdoms. Traverse tension-filled battlefields where you clash against massive armies stretching as far as the eye can see.”
  • Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream - “21 SAO characters, each with their own unique skills, gather on the battlefield to challenge fierce raid bosses! Team up with up to 20 players around the world for the ultimate co-op SAO all-stars battle experience!”
  • Redemption of Liuyin - “The game is an action role-playing game with multiple skill combinations and multiple endings, with a dramatic plot that encourages players to attack.”
  • The First Berserker: Khazan “is a hardcore action RPG based on the Dungeon Fighter Online (DnF) universe, Nexon's flagship IP with more than 800 million players worldwide. Set 800 years before the events of DnF, the game unfolds on the continent of Arad and explores the untold story of Khazan, the first Berserker.”
  • Whiskers and Wizardry - “Step into the magical paws of an overconfident wizard cat in this action-packed roguelite! Craft unique spells, battle hordes of minions and powerful bosses, cleanse the forest of evil, and rescue your Human Wizard Owner.”
  • Dragon Song Tavern: Cozy & Adventurous - “Enjoy a cosy adventure with farming, fishing, cooking, and crafting. Explore maps, battle monsters, and gather magical ingredients. Cook dishes and manage a seaside tavern.”
  • Roid Chimp - “Run, jump, climb, punch a variety of enemies, collect coins, and upgrade your character at the start of the prison section of the game.”
  • The Scouring “is an RTS with a fast pace, high attention to detail and next-generation experience. Lead humans or orcs in a Classic Mode or use one of the powerful Heroes to fight for victory!”

So, there you have it, those are just eight (from thousands) of free demos you can play this weekend.
