Do you like free games? Good. Because there are eight of them on Steam right now.
Ooof, eight is quite a lot, though. How are you supposed to know if they’re worth your time, regardless of whether or not they’re free? Well, luckily, that’s what I’m here for.

Alright, we’re doing these in order of worst to best. That being said, “worst” doesn’t mean bad, so give the earlier entries in this list a look-see regardless… well, actually, maybe don’t bother with the first time.
First up, Internet Fisherman by developer and publisher Netzz. It’s an idle game with some Steam inventory elements. That’s all well and good, but all the reviews say there’s nothing to it, which is really saying something for an idle game. I suggest you give this one a miss.
Next up, Dysterra by developer and publisher Reality MagiQ. I thought this looked fine, I guess, but the reviews paint a different picture.
Although it’s “free”, the reviews are complaining that you still have to actually pay money to even play it once you’ve downloaded it. If you’re curious as to whether it’s actually any good if you do pay money, I’d suggest you read this review from someone who played for 1,662 hours and concluded that it sucks.

Ok, finally, some good food. Jaro TCG is a trading card game from developers Devour Labs and Santiago Peniza Amoros.
I think this one looks neat. There’s only one issue that puts it close to the “bad” pile here, and it’s not really the dev’s fault. Jaro TCG is only playable in Spanish for the time being, so folks who can only speak English are gonna be outta luck here.
Alright, I'm sort of trusting the reviewers on this next one. Green Thing From The Planet Jupiter is a 3D platformer PvP game from developer Slugworks Interactive and Invisible Seams Studios.
It seems like the goal is to either build your spaceship (as the alien) or stop the alien from building their spaceship (as the cat). I think it looks kind of whatever, but the reviews say it is fun. Good for kids, maybe.

Ok, not sure about this one but, it looks fine. The Easter Bunny Game is a PvP game from developer and publisher FunLittleGames LTD. It looks alright. Basically just seems to be Bomberman with bunnies. Looks a bit barebones perhaps, but free is free.
I'm taking a bit of a risk putting Reaper's Isle this high, because the reviews are painting a negative picture. It's a first-person horror game from Triple Cat Games, and I think it looks pretty cool... visually.
Here’s the thing: the reviewers are complaining about stuff like a bad tutorial and bad voice acting. I think the devs can easily patch the tutorial, and you could always mute the voice acting and put on subtitles if it bothers you that much. I’m giving this one the benefit of the doubt, for now.
Alright, now we're getting into the stuff I've actually played.

Witch Hazel is a cute little farming sim from developer Garden Gnome Games and publisher DigiPen Institute of Technology.
DigiPen Institute of Technology publish student projects, and oh my god do these folks know how to teach. Every game I’ve seen these folks put on Steam has been incredible. I thought Witch Hazel was super fun and absolutely adorable. I’ve got my eye on you, Garden Gnome Games. I expect big things.
I’ll be real with you, I played a bit too much Lunacid - Tears of the Moon last night. It’s a King’s Field throwback from developer and publisher KIRA LLC, and it’s so good I cannot believe they’re not charging for it.
Just play it. That’s my review. They should have charged for this one, because I’d have gladly paid for it.

Phew. We did it, guys. We got through the whole list. I’m proud of us.
Although saying that, expect to see fifty more free games on Steam by this time next week. You'd better start getting through these ones before the backlog grows too big.
