Steam often gives out free games here and there, adding countless titles to our ever-growing and creaking backlog.
This month has kicked off with eight games that players can grab for free, by simply heading over to Steam and adding them to your library.
Many of these games are ideal to play on your Steam Deck
Without further ado, let’s get into what you can snag for free.

Operation: Escape is a top-down shooter where aliens threaten all life, but you get your hands on their weapons and take the fight to them.
Next up, When the Crow Sings is a mystery filled with lovely artwork, set in the far future, where anthropomorphic animals live strained lives with humans who have ravaged the planet.
MASTERMIND is a game show, no, not that one, that puts players in a survival game against others, where you’ll scavenge weapons and items in the hope of staying alive.
Then there’s Midnight Date Unleashed, which mixes fast cars with a dating sim, and it seems what impresses your date is haring it around corners at rapid speeds, all while bopping along to a banging soundtrack.

By Bait or By Bullet is a fishing roguelike. Yeah, I know, weird combination, but it actually looks pretty engaging.
Expect plenty of fishing minigames, which are always welcome, along with a story to keep you casting your line.
Now, Goblins & Gun Runnin’ is a super short roguelike, with all the highlights of the genre, including dungeons to explore, and myriad guns to wield.
If you want a 3D puzzler, then GOO-B3-R might be the one for you. Think Portal but with paint guns, and you’re on the right track.

Use the colourful goo as your weapon to solve environmental puzzles and overcome challenges.
Lastly, there’s Clockwork Sword, an isometric hack-and-slash, filled with chaotic action and bright visuals, making you a hero who wields many weapons to save the day.
Plenty of games to be getting on with after adding them to your Steam library.
