Steam drops 7 free downloads as an early Christmas present for you

Merry Christmas from Valve

Steam users can get their hands on a selection of early Christmas presents from Valve. After all, 'tis the season.

There are plenty of free games and festive downloads to claim from Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox right now, if you know where to look. PlayStation especially has a ton of stuff going on for PlayStation Plus subscribers (plus a few treats for non subscribers). However, if your heart is set on Steam, there's still fun to be had.

Take a look at GTA VI in action below. It's not free on Steam, to be clear, but it's a brilliant trailer.

At the time of writing Steam has launched an extra special Steam VR Fest. There are tons of discounts on virtual reality titles, plus some extra special free cosmetics for everyone. As pointed out over on the free games subreddit, there are seven animated stickers for registered Steam users to claim. That's one per day.

I grant you it's the most exciting free download, but it's a cool incentive for any hardcore VR gamers out there to really engage with Steams VR Fest.

Beyond the animated stickers, there are some seriously good discounts on VR titles. Skyrim VR is currently reduced by a whopping 75 percent, and is £12.49 instead of the usual £50. No Man's Sky is 50 percent off (£24.99), Sons Of The Forest is 75 percent off (£3.87), and Hitman is 60 percent off (£23.40). Believe me when I say that's very much the tip of the iceberg.

If you've recently picked up a virtual reality headset and are desperate to dive into some killer new experiences, this is absolutely the time for you to grab that credit card and let go of your inhibitions. After all, it's not a Steam sale if you don't buy a ton of games you'll probably never play.
