Steam drops 7 free downloads you've one week to claim

Happy Halloween

We’re two days away from Halloween, and to celebrate Steam is giving away seven freebies themed after the spookiest day of the year.

Steam is no stranger to handing out free stuff to its users, sometimes even giving away batches of games you can download and keep forever.

This excludes the latest AAA games though, for instance you’re not getting Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 as a free Steam game

However sometimes the giveaways are a little less exciting, freebies from the digital points shop.

This is where you can exchange the points you earn from making purchases for ways to decorate your profile, and includes backgrounds, frames and profile pictures.

Steam is giving away seven of these decorations all of which are themed after Halloween, and while they’re not the most exciting reward they’re better than nothing.

The animated stickers being given away include the Skullpop, Ghostcake, Hypnopop, Gummy Snake, Eye Candy, Candy Bar Monster and finally the Candy Corn Chomp.

Again not very exciting but free is free, and the animations themselves are adorable and very festive.

If you’re looking to get further into the Halloween spirit though than profile customisation can get you, the answer is to obviously play some ace horror games.

Fortunately for you there are loads of those available, and some of the latest ones like Silent Hill 2 (2024) are bound to be contenders for several Game Of The Year categories.

Some of the most popular horror games on Steam right now include Phasmophobia, Don’t Starve Together, Dead By Daylight and Left 4 Dead 2 to name a few.

If none of those are your cup of tea have a look around the Steam store, as there’s bound to be something there that catches your eye.

As for the animated stickers you’ve only got a week to add them to your digital collection, so if you like them now’s the time to claim them.
