Steam drops 16 free games you can download and keep in huge March giveaway

My backlog pleads for mercy

Ewan Moore

My backlog of video games pleads for mercy as I shovel another pile of games on top of titles I've already picked up and haven't found the time to play.

I can't even remember what game is at the bottom of that pile - possibly Persona 5 - but I'm quite sure it will have been driven mad by its extended captivity and torture by now.

I know what I'm doing is wrong. I have too many games to play and I need to stop getting more. But I just can't stop.

If you're anything like me, you've got too many games to play at the moment. But if you're anything like me, you'll also see these 16 free games currently available via Steam and drop everything to check them out.

The following games aren't exactly AAA hits, so don't expect anything like Assassin's Creed or Call Of Duty, but there are some interesting indie experiences worth a look.

These are the 16 free games you can download and keep via Steam right now

  • Life is Feudal: Arden - An open-world RPG set in the Middle Ages.
  • SongBird: FlingAThing - A bright, but deceptively challenging precision platformer.
  • Fishing Clicker - You fish by clicking. Does what it says on the tin, really.
  • Rotosaurus Adventure - A very cute little puzzle adventure.
  • Spring Adventure - A co-op horror that could be fun with the right friends.
  • Cats & Critters: A Dungeon Claw-er - A simple enough looking party game that could be worth a look if you've friends round.
  • Grandpa: Bread Adventure - A fever dream of a game that I can't even really begin to describe.
  • Four Mini Kingdoms War - A tower defense game. Because we can never have too many of those.
  • Arcane Raiders - A really cool-looking roguelike co-op game with a lot of positive reviews.
  • Fall of the stick knights - A very silly physics-based platformer to play with friends.
  • Texas Hold'em Poker: Pokerist - It's poker. Maybe just play Balatro.
  • Soda Splash - Another really weird one I can't even describe properly. Maybe I'm the problem.
  • SHOTBALL - What if Rocket League had guns? Play this game and find out!
  • TRIBE NINE - A free-to-play RPG with mixed reviews.
  • CREAMARE - The Game - "An engaging serious game that brings Mediterranean underwater archaeological sites to life in stunning 3D.”
  • Wheelborn - This one looks rad. It has a ton of positive reviews, and basically invites you to explore and fight as a kind of Pokémon-on-wheels.
