While it’s not as exciting as The Witcher 4, you can play a free game on Steam right now that’s like a Witcher game with a cosy twist.

Medieval monster-slaying and adventuring is a fun but tiring pastime, so every once in a while it’s a good idea to kick back and relax, much like Geralt does in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Now it’s Ciri’s turn to take us on a grand adventure in the newly revealed, The Witcher 4

The Witcher 4 is a long wait away though so in the meantime why not give Foundation a go on Steam, as it’s equal parts Witcher and Stardew Valley in one wholesome experience.

The game’s description reads: “Foundation is a grid-less, laidback medieval city-building game with a focus on organic development, monument construction and resource management.”

As you’ve probably gathered, the objective is to build a city you’re proud of and populate it with grateful citizens, like The Sims but with a fantasy twist.

It’s still a relatively new game but it looks to have plenty of features to keep you busy, and seemingly a lot of freedom over how you put your refuse together.

Like Stardew Valley you’ll make key decisions on how your community is organised but you won’t be able to put your boots on the ground unfortunately, you’re restricted to a birds-eye view.

It looks entertaining though and while you can’t play the full game just yet there is a demo you can try for free on the official Steam page.

If you’re into city-builders or just fancy playing something a bit more relaxed after the latest AAA releases it looks like Foundation will be worth your time, and if it’s not you’re only playing a free demo so no harm done yeah?
