Whether you are a fan or not, there is no denying that Stardew Valley revolutionised the “cosy” genre when it was released back in 2016.

Combining farming simulation with romance, friendship, fishing, and mining, Stardew Valley is a title that its fans have put thousands of hours into.

However, despite multiple free updates and content drops for Stardew Valley, sometimes you just need a change and this spiritual successor is the perfect way to kick off the new year.

Sunkissed City is a “life-sim set in an upbeat, sun-kissed seaside metropolis full of funky vibes and quirky characters".

Developed by Mr. Podunkian, Sunkissed City will task players with building their very own life in the city, complete with DIY gardens, heaps of skills to learn and friends to make as they aim to bring life back to the once-vibrant streets.

Set to launch this year, Sunkissed City’s official synopsis reads as follows:

“Welcome to your new life in Apollo City, a sun-kissed seaside metropolis that's pumping with funky vibes and quirky characters.

“As a fresh hire for the monolithic Pico corporation's new "Peco Pioneer" pilot program, you've been tasked with fostering a relationship with Apollo's vibrant community and putting in a good word for Pico's new eco-focused initiatives.

“But all is not well in these bustling streets. The local wildlife has begun to behave more aggressively, the waters are devoid of life, monsters are pouring out from the sewers, and that's not to mention the constant migraines everyone's been having lately.”

Endless Hours of Gameplay To Be Had

With a myriad of opportunities at your fingertips, Sunkissed City will see you build DIY gardens, soaking up the sun in the park, meeting locals for coffee or even snapping wildlife photos on the outskirts of the town.

If you want to get more hands-on, you can forage for mushrooms or go fishing but if you want more of a challenge, you could dive into the monster-infested sewers beneath the city.

With both online and split-screen multiplayer, you can enjoy Sunkissed City alone or with friends but with endless customisation options, the chance to reinvent yourself at will, and most importantly, make friends with the locals, there are endless hours of fun to be had in Apollo City.

Sunkissed City does not yet have an official release date but the Stardew Valley spiritual successor is expected to launch this year.

So if you are interested in this brand-new title which offers thousands of hours of gameplay, make sure you add Sunkissed City to your Steam wishlist now.
