If you’ve got an hour to spare, then Hyperfist could just be the perfect game to fill it.

This “fast-paced, comic-styled, first-person melee action game” has been developed by new solo dev CHIRALITY for the DigiPen Institute of Technology.

If this is what CHIRALITY can achieve at the very beginning of their career, it certainly bodes well for their future.

Hyperfist is a bite-sized free game on Steam that sees you step into the shoes of Heath, a “local punk” who must use his mecha-fists to punch his way through a bunch of robotic enemies in what’s described as a “fast and fluid combat system”.

“Deliver the most radical punch in HYPERFIST, the fast-paced punk-rock first-person puncher game,” begins the synopsis.

“After the deed to the planet Earth was acquired by the robotic Khi Corporation, they descended to terraform the whole place into a huge planetary parking lot.

“Play as the local punk who wants nothing more than to punch the capitalist corpos in their stupid robot faces.”

Players will, of course, be able to make use of a variety of combos and special attacks throughout the experience, plus you’ll improve the power of your fists as you pull off better combos.

There are three levels to tackle in total, with players eventually facing off against the game’s final boss.

The game also promises to include “an amazing punk-rock soundtrack” too.

It won’t take you very long to roll credits on Hyperfist according to players

At the time of writing, Hyperfist boasts an impressive ‘Very Positive’ score from users of 97% with many praising the “amazing” gameplay.

“I stumbled upon this game, and before even opening the game, I knew this was going to be amazing. The style, music, characters, flow, and everything in the middle,” one player began. “I've seen many games from similar places, but none are as good as this one.”

“Very fun, short game that has a lot of potential to grow into something bigger,” added another.

“Short [and] sweet, you get what you pay for and then some. Amazing visual style, fun satisfying gameplay, great soundtrack. If you need something to kill 30 [to] 60 mins, have I got a game for you,” someone remarked, while another player simply said, “25 minutes of peak.”

Yes, it shouldn’t take you very long at all to complete Hyperfist, with most players recording a completion time of between 25 and 60 minutes - and the game is free, as a reminder.

It’s nice to play a short game every once in a while, especially when major releases like Crimson Desert, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and many other 2026 titles put immense pressure on our backlogs.

You can punch your way through this one before your backlog even knows you’ve betrayed it.
