Hogwarts Legacy and Stardew Valley fans will want to check out this new RPG that you can play for free right now.
The indie sensation that is Stardew Valley is one of the most beloved cosy sim games there ever was, and for many games that followed its original 2016 release, it served as a blueprint to what fans of the genre came to expect.
A cute farm to maintain and grow, delightful NPCs to interact with, fun story missions and a wealth of free content updates over the years from ConcernedApe, it’s no wonder that Stardew Valley continues to remain so popular to this very day.

Then we have 2023’s Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games. Hogwarts Legacy is the Harry Potter-inspired action RPG that fans have waited years for.
Equally delightful NPCs, fun missions and the stunning location of Hogwarts Castle, it’s no surprise that Hogwarts Legacy went on to become the best-selling game of its release year.
So, if there’s a game that can be described as a mix of Stardew Valley and Hogwarts Legacy, you can be assured that it will most certainly pique our interest. One such game is the indie title from Raguthra Studios called Fractured Library.
“Fractured Library is a 2D pixel art narrative game. With no combat or resource grinding, the focus is 100% on the story that is furthered by exploration, logic-lite puzzles, and quests, allowing for an immersive gaming experience- minus the stress,” reads the description of the game on Steam.

“Welcome to Inkthistle Hollow, where the library’s a little broken (well... fractured), the magic is misbehaving, and time keeps getting itself tangled in the curtains. You’ll be helping me, Hazel. Witch, librarian, keeper of enchanted card catalogues, occasional soup enthusiast, restore order to our once-glorious collection.”
After watching its gameplay trailer, it looks like Fractured Library oozes charm and may be another indie hit when its intended launch arrives in July 2026. Assuming it suffers no delay, of course.
As an 80s/90s gamer, I love the fact that, at least visually, Fractured Library looks to be inspired by retro RPGs of the 8-bit era,

What’s more, you may be interested to know that Fractured Library is going live on Kickstarter soon, so if you want to help bring this indie project to life, you should maybe check that out.
While we wait for the launch of Fractured Library on Steam, be sure to download its free playable demo and add it to your wishlist to keep updated on its progress.
