Steam users can claim this post-apocalyptic game with a 100% discount, but it’s only available for less than a week, so you need to act fast.

You won’t hear us complaining about free video games, well, unless it's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, that game can jog on. That being said, if you’re after a free Steam game that you can claim today with positive reviews, then you’re in the right place.

The free Steam game that you can claim, download and keep forever is the post-apocalyptic indie adventure title, Deponia, developed and published by Daedalic Entertainment. It's actually a great little game, with a gorgeous art style. Check it out here and see if it's your type of thing.

“In Deponia, the world has degenerated into a vast garbage dump, in which the crotchety Rufus ekes out his sorry existence. He is part of the lowest social class, doomed to live his life in literal mountains of trash. He hopes for an opportunity to get into the world of the rich, who live in a floating city high above the clouds,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.

How Long Will Deponia Be Free?

Deponia will return to its full £6.99 RRP on Monday, 16 March 2026. I’d suggest, even if you don't plan on playing this game anytime soon, it might be worth adding to your Steam library just in case you change your mind.

Despite releasing in 2012, judging by its trailer at least, Deponia has aged well visually. It has a gorgeous cartoon art style, not to mention that the point-and-click genre tends to age like a fine wine. I think if you like the Monkey Island series, there’s probably a good chance that you’ll appreciate this game.

At the time of writing, Deponia has received “Mostly Positive” reviews from the Steam community.

“A hilarious, charming, and chaotic point-and-click adventure with gorgeous hand-drawn visuals. Rufus is an unforgettable, egotistical mess, and the puzzles are creative, fitting the unique junk-planet setting,” wrote one user.

“If you love classic adventure games and quirky humour, this is a must-play. A trash-tastic masterpiece! 9/10.”

“Deponia is a delightfully scrappy trash‑heap adventure starring a protagonist who probably shouldn’t be trusted with anything sharper than a crayon, yet somehow ends up steering the whole plot anyway,” said struudl².

“I played the complete journey, and it was a fun game. I got this for free, and who doesn't love free video games?” asked ThePsychopathSC.

I have to agree! So, what are you waiting for? Download Deponia for free now, before it’s too late!
