Major AAA Game Gets Delisted On Steam, Fans Aren't Happy With Solution

Koei Tecmo has delisted the original Dead or Alive 6 on Steam, and the proposed solution isn’t going down so well with fans.

Back in February’s PlayStation State of Play, Koei Tecmo announced that Dead or Alive 6 would be receiving a new updated edition, titled Last Round.

Dead or Alive 6 Last Round comes with new characters, DLC, and an improved photo mode, and was announced with a release date of 25 June, 2026.

However, Last Round is not an update to the original Dead or Alive 6 from 2019, but rather a separate edition that you need to purchase. It also doesn’t come with a discount or upgrade path for original owners.

It's The End of An Era For The Original Version Of The Title

With the release of Last Round now just a few weeks away, Koei Tecmo has now delisted the original version of Dead or Alive 6.

Presumably, this is to ensure new buyers don’t get confused between editions, where players can be shuffled onto the same version of the game. The fact that Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is also getting a free-to-play ‘Core Fighters’ edition is also proof of this.

Fans of the series are unhappy with the way Koei Tecmo has handled this, though, considering the short notice of the delisting and the lack of an upgrade path.

“So incredibly stupid of them to give such short notice and also it will be a two week gap for people on Steam to play if they missed buying this. They've also confirmed collab packs won't transfer over, so you re-buy the game to have access to less content,” reads one comment on Reddit.

“I really hope this cr***y re-release isn't indicative of how they're handling DoA7, game deserves better online play,” reads another comment in the same thread.

“Wow.. cant believe I missed it by a few hours. That freaking sucks. I wanted to add this game to my library some day. I hate when they make some new version of a game and delist the original version,” a third comment reads.

Up until its delisting, Dead or Alive 6 had three different versions available to pick up. There was the free Core Fighters version, which is returning for Last Round, plus the base game which cost $59.99, and a Deluxe Edition which cost $79.99.

Additionally, there were 461 pieces of DLC available to buy, consisting of a mix of new characters, BGMs, and cosmetic options. Some of this content has been rolled into the Last Round edition.

Even so, it’s pretty clear that fans of the original game aren’t too happy about having to fork out more cash if they want the most up-to-date version of the game.
