If you are looking for the challenge of Dark Souls with the roguelike elements of Slay the Spire, then you do not want to miss out on this upcoming RPG.
Set to launch in early 2026 but with a Steam demo available to check out for free right now, Lootbound is an upcoming tactical roguelike with turn-based combat, inventory management, and a “touch of Dungeons & Dragons flavour”.
Developed by ArtDock, Lootbound combines the challenging combat of Dark Souls with the roguelike elements of hit titles such as Slay the Spire to make one epic fantasy world adventure.
As you lead your squad through winding dungeons built by the Mysterious Master, you will have to dodge traps, solve riddles and fight terrifying monsters in order to slowly move forward.

“Welcome to the world of Lootbound, a turn-based adventure about golems, ancient gods, chance, and survival deep underground,” the official Steam description reads.
You will play as a band of golems who, after being cast into the darkness without their memories, their only instinct is to keep travelling forward in an effort to find their creators.
With four distinct heroes to journey alongside, each with their own unique backstories, personality, class and skill tree, it will be up to you which role you take on.
However, be aware that your choices will affect your gameplay by shaping your tactics, progression, abilities and playstyle.

“Before each run, fate throws the dice,” the description continues.
“Roll for blessings or curses that will shape your entire expedition. Lootbound is about risk and randomness, about adapting to what the world throws at you and making it work.”
Lootbound features multiple dungeons which are available to explore and each features their very own loot, riddles and battles.
With abilities costing action points, every decision must be tactical and that is not to mention your inventory which can easily be filled.

As a result, every decision you make in Lootbound will matter and no two runs are the same.
When Lootbound releases fully next year, players will find procedurally generated dungeons, a rich RPG system, turn-based tactical combat, an ever-shifting story, dynamic events, rare gear, strange traps and unique powers tied to each character.
“To escape, you’ll have to reclaim something vital — your humanity.
It’s not just about survival.

It’s about unraveling your origin, defeating the Guardians, and deciding who you’ll become: a puppet, a soldier, or something more.”
As mentioned, Lootbound releases fully in Q1 of 2026 but its demo is now available to check out for free on Steam.
