Animal Crossing fans may want to keep an eye on this upcoming Steam gem that has a free demo available now.

Cropia is an upcoming farming and life sim game with all the vibes of games like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, if you’re looking for any more games like those.

It’s set in the peaceful countryside, where you are tasked with building your own farm and growing crops to make a living. This is done by arranging the fields, expanding the farmland, and creating a unique space that fits with the style in which you’d like to farm.

There are also animals that you can raise, as well as fish to catch in the local river and precious minerals to collect in the mines. Altogether, it looks like a rather cute experience for anyone who is interested in cosy farming sim games.

Judging from the trailer, it looks like the town also has characters for you to interact with, as well as a rough story to follow. It might not be anything more complex than a story that asks you to grow your farm, but it’s something to do that I’m sure players will appreciate.

Since the game’s official description teases that you’ll be “contributing to the growth of the community around you”, I’d imagine that this will play a role in Cropia’s story.

This also applies to the NPCs that are featured in Cropia. As the game teases, townsfolk have “unique personalities and needs”, and it sounds like a relationship system similar to Animal Crossing may be featured here.

If you fancy checking the game out, developer Cropstone Studio has made a free demo available for you to play. You can download it by heading to Steam and clicking the Download Cropia Demo button.

Before you install it, make sure that your PC can handle it. The minimum system requirements include needing a GTX 970 and a Ryzen 5 1600 CPU, which is hardware dating back to the mid-2010s.

So any modern gaming computer should be able to run it.

“I enjoyed the demo though it was a little short,” writes one demo player on the Steam forum. “The graphics are great for the genre and the mechanics are smooth.”

There’s no set release date for Cropia yet, as the date listed on Steam simply states that it’s “coming soon”. We’ll be sure to provide an update should Cropstone Studio announce a release date.
