If you are a fan of the horrors of BioShock but with some added enemies akin to those found in The Last of Us, then this upcoming survival horror game is not one to miss out on.

Developed by Weforge Studio, Macabre is an upcoming multiplayer survival horror title that combines the first-person shooter elements of BioShock with the adaptive enemies found in The Last of Us.

Despite not yet having a release date, Macabre is already capturing plenty of attention over on Steam and according to developers, a play test is now on the way with those interested having the chance to sign up now.

Perhaps more importantly though, what is Macabre?

“Can you outsmart a monster that adapts to your every move?” The official description reads.

“Enter a volatile time rift, craft and upgrade gear to survive, and tackle shifting objectives on procedural maps. Will you band together—or betray your friends for the lion's share of the loot?”

In this unique gaming experience, players will have to master stealth, horror and cooperative gameplay in a genre the developers like to call a “Stealth Extraction Horror”.

You and your friends must navigate infinite timelines as you extract valuable resources and escape.

However, with enemies constantly on the lookout for you, you will have to avoid the shape-shifting terrors as you fight through randomised maps and quests.

Luckily, you will get to meet Banjo, a Rift enthusiast who has made it his life’s work to create ingenious inventions that will help you along the way.

This includes the Atomic Space Shifter which will allow you to Bleed crafting items such as Fragments and Artefacts.

You will also be able to customise your character before each round, as well as choose a loadout and put on the right equipment for the task in hand.

What makes Macabre even more interesting is its enemies.

”When you first encounter a Macabre, it assesses your presence, determining whether you are a threat or potential prey,” the synopsis continues.

As Macabre becomes more familiar with you, It may become more aggressive, testing your resilience and adaptability.

If you repeatedly rely on the same survival strategy, Macabre will adapt and deploy alternate behaviours.

As a result, you will have to use perfectly timed distractions and stuns in order to survive your encounters.

Macabre may not yet have a release date but it is now available to add to your wishlist over on Steam.
