Darth Vader is without a doubt one of the most iconic villains in fiction, so it’s always great to see him return in some capacity.

This time around he’ll be featured in an upcoming comic series that takes place after his death in Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi.

Don’t fret though it’s not reversing his heroic redemption and sacrifice, but Vader got up to a lot of mischief during his time on the Dark Side and some of the plans he set in motion have repercussions for the New Republic.

This will be explored in the upcoming Marvel: Star Wars series, a relaunch of the comics that will see a variety of familiar faces re-emerge for new adventures separate to the TV shows and films.

Written by Alex Segura, Charles Soule and Marc Guggenheim, the series will show us what happened directly after the fall of The Empire, some of Qui-Gon Jinn’s adventures before his demise, and introduce a new character called Vanee.

Vanee in particular is interesting because they’re apparently connected to both Darth Vader and Kylo Ren, so perhaps this is how Kylo got the helmet of Darth Vader added to his personal collection?

The first issue of the new series will launch on 3 May later this year, right before May The Fourth Day, and will apparently be handed out for free by participating comic book shops.

If you’re a fan of Marvel comics and the Star Wars universe this is worth checking out, as it promises plenty of Jedi, Sith and groups in between and will probably give us some new and official lore.

It’s worth a read while we wait for whatever new saga Disney is cooking up for the Star Wars franchise.
