Travelling on foot everywhere in Skyrim would take too long when we have quests to complete, so most of us fast travel.

However, have you ever wondered how many steps it would take to cross the map?

Well, one Skyrim fan did, and as such took it upon themselves to find out.

If you had 24 hours in Skyrim, what would you do?

In a clip shared on Reddit, we can see ShakeMistake_ counting each step they take to get from Riften to Solitude.

At the beginning of this mammoth task, the OP joked that it’ll take them “two hours” to complete their expedition.

Everything is sped up for our viewing convenience, but the OP revealed that it took them 14,000 steps in the end.

Well, 14,052 to be exact.

As you’d expect with such details being shared on Reddit, fellow fans have something to say about the achievement.

User Plantain-Feeling said, “Well, that means the way up to high Hrothgar isn't 7,000 steps then is it. F**kin’ lying ass mountain.”

In response, the OP theorised it would be closer to “3,000-4,000” steps.

Some are surprised at how few steps are needed to go from one side of the map to the other.

However, as Whatever_It_Takes explained, “Everything is scaled down in game.”

Although we subconsciously already know this, it's still fun to joke around about the contrasts between lore and putting said lore to the test.

It’s also worth noting that your gait will impact how many steps are taken, if you want to take this challenge seriously.

Now you know just how many steps it takes, will you be trying this out for yourself or stick to fast travelling everywhere?

As visually beautiful as areas within the Bethesda title are, we like the convenience of teleporting across the map.

Lazy or smart, you decide.
