The rumoured Red Dead Redemption remake may be coming sooner than you think, supposedly just weeks away from launch.

While most Rockstar Games fans are patiently waiting for news on Grand Theft Auto VI, others are looking for confirmation on something entirely different, a full remake of the original Red Dead Redemption, which could potentially release just in time for Christmas.

Check out the trailer for Red Dead Redemption below!

Leakers and hackers have been claiming for months that Rockstar is secretly working on a Red Dead Redemption remake, saying it will be a full remake and not just a remaster, like what was done for the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy, which was a genuine concern amongst fans.

While the rumours haven’t been officially confirmed, it’d only make sense for Rockstar to capitalise on the series further, especially after the astounding success of Red Dead Redemption 2. It makes even more sense when you consider the first game takes place after the second chronologically, meaning a remake of the original game with the same graphics and gameplay as the prequel/sequel just makes sense.

Now, one leaker, Budzcario, believes they know the genuine release date for the game, in a tweet saying: “Nov 17th, 2023 release date. It's going to rock the gaming world, surprise of the century. Believe . I know this is the release date for 100%. They've been feeding fake info to … devs to weed out leaks in their own company.”

They went on to say “Red Dead Redemption 1 remastered is coming out later this year. It will be officially announced this August for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. RDR 1 remastered will release sometime in October or November.”

Obviously, this is unconfirmed by Rockstar, so like any potential leak or rumour, take it with a healthy handful of salt. That being said, if a Red Dead Redemption remake were to be released by the end of this year, it’d be joining renowned titles like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Resident Evil 4 (2023), Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Starfield, which would cement 2023 as one of the greatest years in gaming history.

August is just around the corner, so it looks like fans will have to hope and pray the rumours are true if they want to see Red Dead Redemption 1 return this year.
