The Last of Us Part III fans are celebrating a recent update which can only be a good thing when it comes to telling a meaningful story.

There’s an old saying of “never outstay your welcome”, and in the world of TV and film, that saying has never been more important. A few series that come to mind which went on for much longer than they should are - Lost, Arrow and Fear the Walking Dead.

For example, Fear the Walking Dead went on for eight seasons… EIGHT! That show was decent for the first three, but once Morgan Jones became the pivotal character from season four, I wished this series were dead.

The same can be said for video games of never outstaying a welcome, and Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us series is no exception. The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II are two of my favourite games of all time, and I can’t wait for the third numbered entry in the series.

Previously, Naughty Dog chief Neil Druckmann has teased that The Last of Us Part III might happen, but only if it can be a worthy continuation and not a game pumped out purely for sales.

As brought to our attention by the Twitter account DomTheBomb, Druckmann has reiterated that he has the same stance regarding the prospect of The Last of Us Part III.

During an interview on the YouTube channel Last Stand Media, Druckmann said, “While I’m the caretaker of this franchise, it’s important that everything is of high quality. I don’t want to just make a lot of it. I want to be very thoughtful about everything we make.”

“If we were ever to come back to it, I want to make sure it’s a story worthy of The Last of Us. I love that world, I love these characters, with the right opportunity, with the right idea, yeah, I would totally jump at it,” continued Druckmann.

“Please let it be a happy ending,” pleaded youcappindog, replying to a tweet from DomTheBomb teasing The Last of Us Part III.

“Finally, I just started playing the second one, I'm so happy there's a third one coming,” said Camtheman4599.

“LET’S GO,” replied BlastRaptor27 with a gif of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

“YESSSSS,” yelled DFWAlex2289.

It’s worth keeping in mind that The Last of Us Part III hasn't been officially revealed yet, but we all know it will happen at some point, and when that time comes, at least we know it shouldn't be for the sake of it.
