The Last of Us Part III may still be close to a decade away, but none of that matters when we might finally be able to get our hands on some The Last of Us-inspired LEGO models.

Over on the r/thelastofus subreddit, one user posted some fan-made recreations of Joel, Ellie and Abby in LEGO form - complete with a LEGO golf club for Abby to wield.

Now, while the figurines are custom-built and therefore not official products you can purchase for yourself… the chance of something similar eventually finding its way onto store shelves is, surprisingly, an actual possibility.

LEGO has worked with some of the biggest publishers in gaming several times before. For instance, they have a bit of a longstanding relationship with Nintendo.

The two have collaborated on several LEGO products in the past, and they even announced that a LEGO Game Boy will be on its way before the end of the year.

Plus, LEGO and Sony have also been collaborating recently too.

ICYMI: The Last of Us season two is due to drop this April.

The two have teamed up several times over the past few years to produce a few different Horizon Zero Dawn-themed LEGO sets, including a massive, £150 model based on one of the game’s Longnecks.

The two companies even collaborated on the game Lego Horizon Adventures last year, which featured LEGO recreations of the entirety of Horizon Zero Dawn’s cast.

However, it’s not entirely good news. LEGO does have a very well-established family-friendly image, so it is a little tough to see them skirting this by making a set based on the decidedly un-family-friendly The Last of Us games.

Still, there’s precedent there. For the meantime though, you’ll have to build your own TLOU-inspired models yourself using custom parts.

Who knows though - maybe the second season of HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us could inspire LEGO to produce a set of their own.
