A new surprise announcement for The Last of Us has left fans torn after being revealed this week.

Because Sony is keen to keep selling you new editions of The Last of Us, I'm afraid we have yet another new version of the game on our hands.

Earlier this week, Sony announced The Last of Us Complete, a double-pack containing the PS5 versions of both Part I and Part II in a single compilation.

The Last of Us Season 2 starts airing this Sunday on HBO.

The collection is available now as a digital bundle, but will also have a $109.99 physical edition containing the American Dreams comic book and some exclusive art prints.

"I'm personally going to wait for The Last Of Us Complete Remastered," wrote one X (formerly Twitter) user in response.

"The fact that their last six games have been the same two games repeated ad nauseam should tell you that they have absolutely zero creativity left," wrote another user.

Two unforgettable stories in one package.

Here are all the versions of The Last of Us you can now play:

  • The Last of Us (PS3)
  • The Last of Us Remastered (PS4)
  • The Last of Us Part II (PS4)
  • The Last of Us Part I (PS5 & PC)
  • The Last of Us Part II Remastered (PS5 & PC)
  • The Last of Us Complete

"We get this but not Factions," wrote a third user, a reference to Naughty Dog's cancelled The Last of Us multiplayer game.

Some fans also take issue with the fact that Sony is calling this collection the "complete" version, as it implies that there'll be no Part III. This comes after Neil Druckmann's recent comments suggesting there might not be a continuation of the story.

"I was waiting for this question," Druckmann said. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of [The] Last of Us. This could be it."

Naughty Dog's next game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a sci-fi action-adventure set thousands of years into the future.

The Last of Us Complete is available on PS5 now as a digital bundle, and will be coming as a physical edition on 10 July, 2025.
