Red Dead Redemption meets Turok in rad new dinosaur/western FPS

Upcoming first-person western dinosaur shooter, Son and Bone, is heading to PlayStation 5 later this year.

Well, I certainly didn’t have using Red Dead Redemption and Turok in the same sentence on my bingo card for today, but the upcoming first-person shooter Son and Bone encapsulates the vibes of both games, believe it or not.

Quantum Error developer TeamKill Media has finally lifted the lid on its next project. Released back in November, Quantum Error was an action-horror that saw players assume the role of a firefighter tasked with rescuing survivors on an outer space research facility. Of course, fire wasn’t the only obstacle, with the facility plagued by a monstrous threat. The game scored a measly 40 on Metacritic so TeamKill Media could certainly do with a new and improved hit. Enter Son and Bone which we know will, quite literally, bring us back down to Earth.

Take a look at the trailer for Son and Bone below.

It’s only a short stay on Earth. This time, players will take on the role of a sheriff (yes, you’re seeing the Red Dead Redemption connection now) who finds himself transported to a world overrun by dinosaurs where you’re tasked with overcoming these colossal prehistoric beasts in order to return home. It goes without saying that going toe-to-toe with a dinosaur is always going to remind us of good ol’ Turok.

The synopsis reads, “When a local farm in Patchwork, MT is attacked by a group of notorious bandits, Sheriff Sam Judge sets out to bring them to justice by any means necessary and save the hostage they have taken. But on his journey, through the mysterious motives of those he pursues, Sam finds himself transported to another world overrun with prehistoric creatures, dinosaurs and now must fight for his life to make it back to Earth.”

Son and Bone doesn’t have a release date just yet, but we do know that it’ll launch on PlayStation 5 in 2024 and was made using Unreal Engine 5.
