PlayStation quietly adds a helpful new feature that should help us defeat our ever-expanding backlog of games.
We’ve all got one, an always-increasing backlog of games, otherwise known as the “Pile of Shame”. As gamers, we just can’t help ourselves. I know my impulsive nature is a nightmare in that respect.
Whenever we see the next big AAA release, a fresh indie darling or an irresistible bargain, we just can’t help to continually make new purchases, despite having tons of other games that we’ve nowhere near finished.
Sometimes, a reason we might put a game off is simply due to a lack of time, as we try to maintain a work-life balance. Yet, that still won’t stop us from adding to our collection.

It also doesn't help that whether a game is small or huge, we might not have any clue how far we are into that game, and thus, might put it off for something that we believe can be finished more swiftly.
How long to beat?
If we knew how far we were into a game, let’s say, with an estimated percentage, it might give us extra motivation to get the job done, especially if it’s over 70%. Thankfully, one such feature has existed on PS5 for a while, but not when it comes to the official PlayStation mobile app.
However, from what I can tell, this percentage estimate only relates to main campaign completion, for the most part. For example, the Call of Duty hub indicates that I’m 84% complete, which includes four games. This does not account for the very grindy multiplayer trophies; otherwise, that percentage would be much lower.

Up to this point, this campaign percentage estimate has only been available on the PlayStation 5 console, but finally, it’s now arrived on the aforementioned app.
“New PS App feature, what do we think?” asked Redditor MeRoyMinoy.

“I wish we could see the hours and percentage for all games played somewhere on the app and not just the last three games,” replied SprayNo5555.
At this point, the hours shown only appear on consoles.
That being said, speaking of being way off, that hour estimate is far more unreliable, as it accounts for when you pause a game or when you're idle.
The most efficient way to track hours spent in a game is always when the game itself tracks it, whether it’s via in-game stats or a save file.

Hopefully, the official PlayStation mobile app will get more helpful features added over time.
