PlayStation Plus adds three more free games, includes 8/10 AAA racer

PlayStation Plus will drop three new games today, available to download on PS5, and the line-up includes a highly-rated AAA racing game that you do not want to miss.

The latest PlayStation Plus games are here (or will be soon depending on your timezone), and they include two fantastic titles for the PS5 and one for PS4. What’s more, if you like competitive racing, multiplayer shooters and alien invasions, you’re going to have a blast with PS Plus in October 2026.

All three games are from the PlayStation Plus Essential tier, but if you subscribe to either PS Plus Premium or PS Plus Extra, then all of these games are available to you, too.

Here’s what PS Plus Essential subscribers can claim for free today

F1 25, EA

F1 25 (PS5)

This is the latest release in Electronic Arts’ F1 series, and arguably, this is the best entry yet, with what is essentially an 8/10 score on Metacritic. This is not only the most visually stunning F1 game to date, but it will push your competitive driving skills to the limits, whether you’re playing its single–player or multiplayer modes.

The officially licensed F1 25 includes a cinematic story campaign that follows the fictional F1 team ‘Konnersport’ to glory as they compete against the giants of the industry. It also has an F1 team manager mode, a created driver career and more. If you like the racing genre in general, there’s a good chance you’ll be fine with this one.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 (PS5)

Hunt: Showdown 1896, Crytek

From the developers of the original Far Cry and the Crysis series, Hunt: Showdown 1896 is a gothic horror, PvPvE extraction shooter set in an alternative American Wild West. In Hunt: Showdown 1896, you’ll not only be tasked with hunting down deadly monsters but also competing against other players online while trying to escape with all the loot. If you’re looking for an ARC Raiders alternative, this could be the game for you. It’s playable for up to 12 players online, but also includes an additional solo mode.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 (PS5/PS4)

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, D3PUBLISHER

This is a spin-off of the mainline alien/giant bug third-person shooter series Earth Defense Force, aka EDF, and a sequel to the first World Brothers released in 2020. Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 looks different from its bigger sibling due to its voxel-style graphics, but make no mistake, this colourful shooter is just as silly.

You can play it solo or co-op with three other friends. It has more than 100 characters to unlock and over 100 missions with over-sized monsters and robots to fight to the death, as well as tons of character customisation. Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 could be the sleeper hit for PS Plus in October 2026.
