Brand-new, free Astro Bot DLC has been announced during PlayStation’s State Of Play showcase, kicking the show off with a bang.

Astro Bot, Astro Bot, Astro Bot, all PlayStation fans have on their mind right now is the little droid dude and his platforming adventures, rightly so because the game is a banger and now it’s getting free DLC.

Check out the trailer for Astro Bot below

This isn't a huge surprise as fans have been anticipating some kind of update to the game, especially since Astro's Playroom received some surprise updates to commemorate the release of the little bot's full-scale adventure.

Eagle-eyed fans also spotted certain developers appearing in the game's credits, hinting that other video game IPs will be joining the game's cast later down the line in robotic form.

As stated during PlayStation’s State Of Play showcase, the game will be getting free add-on content later this year, though an exact release date is unknown at the time of writing.

Coming to the game soon are five new levels for you to play, presumably ones just as challenging as the endgame content of the base game.

These levels will once again grant Astro a range of abilities to help him make it to the end, and should offer just as much fun as we've had so far.

What will be your reward for completing these presumably challenging levels? VIP bots of course, which take the form of recognisable gaming icons.

Joining the roster are new VIP bots based on the Helldivers series, well-deserved considering how Helldivers 2 is still going strong as a PlayStation exclusive.

PlayStation even hinted that it'll only be the beginning of new content being added to the game, so stay tuned for more.
