Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a partnership with Bad Robot Games, to produce a new first-person shooter from the director of the Left 4 Dead games.
Weird timing as I was literally speaking to one of my friends about the Left 4 Dead series the other day, and how no game since has been able to quite capture the fun and thrill of annihilating wave after wave of enemies with your friends. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 probably came the closest in my humble opinion.
Anyway, we might be getting the spiritual successor we’ve always dreamed of as Sony and Bad Robot Games will be producing and publishing a new FPS directed by Mike Booth, Left 4 Dead’s creator.

As you’d expect it’ll be a four-player cooperative shooter with plans to launch on both PlayStation 5 and PC, though no further details and what it’ll be about have been shared as of yet.
Anna Sweet, CEO of Bad Robot Games gave a statement regarding the partnership, saying the team is relishing the opportunity to bring its new IPs to life, “with an expansive vision for this new universe.”
Sweet went on to say: “With the support of PlayStation, we hope to deliver a bold, innovative experience that is truly special for players. I could not be more excited that Mike Booth is at the creative helm, crafting a cooperative adventure that will lead to unforgettable moments with friends.”
This was then followed up with a word from Christian Svensson, VP and Head of 2P/3P Content Ventures & Strategic Initiatives at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Svensson said: “We’re greatly impressed with the talent Bad Robot Games has assembled at their studio, and are thrilled to partner with them to help produce and publish their upcoming game
“Their unique creative voice and passion for innovating across all forms of interactive entertainment perfectly aligns with SIE’s mission to craft experiences that resonate deeply with players. We can’t wait for gamers to step into the world they’ve been building.”
Left 4 Dead 3
It's been nearly two decades since the last Left 4 Dead game came out and Valve has made it pretty clear that we won't be getting a third game.

As I said before there have been plenty of games that have tried to capitalise on the Left 4 Dead series' absence, and I'd love to see the original team return to show everyone how it's done. Perhaps Bad Robot Games' latest title will do just that.
