PlayStation fans lose it as Resistance finally returns in new trailer

This trailer has done irreparable damage to the sanity of every PlayStation fan

Sony has managed to send every Resistance fan into an emotional spiral by featuring the oft-forgotten franchise in a brand-new trailer.

Earlier this week, the original PlayStation celebrated its 30th birthday.

Die-hard Sony fans were expecting some kind of huge reveal to commemorate the occasion, and what we received has caused several different corners of the internet to lose their collective minds.

One of the first things Sony revealed is a new theme for PlayStation 5s that morphs the background and sounds of your console into anything from an OG PlayStation all the way to a PlayStation 4.

That was nice and all, but it didn’t prepare everyone for the two-minute “30th Anniversary” trailer they then posted online.

The trailer featured snippets from several Sony exclusive franchises and games, such as Uncharted, God of War, Demon’s Souls, and even Bloodborne (the latter of which felt like a bit of a tongue-in-cheek poke at fans).

Astro Bot is PlayStation's latest hit.

And, as several people on the r/ResistanceSaga subreddit noticed, it even had a little reference to the Resistance games.

“Great to see Resistance's inclusion!” replied user TheRed24, “Shows they acknowledge how appreciated it is as a franchise to include it in their 30th anniversary celebrations.”

“We can only hope it means something more than a pity mention,” commented user Metal-Wulf, “Fall of Man carried the PS3's launch, so it deserves better than they've given it this past decade.”

Can’t blame them for making mountains out of molehills really, as it has been over 12 years since the last game in the franchise, Resistance: Burning Skies, came out.

Sony did add both Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 to PlayStation Plus Premium last month though, so perhaps all of this does imply that they’re considering reviving the series.

At this point that’s probably more likely than a Bloodborne remaster honestly.
