PlayStation players discover secret for better PS5 performance

The PlayStation 5 is a tremendous piece of technology, featuring lots of little tips and tricks to get the best from it, but you usually need to dig through the menus to find them.

While some options for improving the PlayStation 5 performance seem obvious, there are some that might easily go overlooked by the player.

One player, who appears to be using game mode on their TV, was noticing that the picture was very dark, making playing games a lot trickier.

As many do, they went to Reddit to ask others for some help on improving the situation and getting the best out of their console.

“I’ve tried changing the settings but for some reason it’s not that bright for me and pretty dark and the colours don’t seem that vibrant. Is there any way to fix that?” they asked in the thread.

It didn’t take long for someone to drop in and give an answer that would help, and if you’re struggling with the same issue, this should be an easy fix for you.

“Did you turn off the eco-friendly settings in the power tab? That one turns the brightness way down to save energy,” noted a helpful Redditor called Silverhaze_NL.

After a bit of back and forth with the thread creator, the advice seemed to work, though it was noted you can also tweak the contrast enhancer, raising it to improve the darker sections of the image.

It seems this is only really an issue for those using game mode on their TV, so be aware of this and adjust the settings if needed.

This advice only applies to the PlayStation 5, not the PlayStation 5 Pro, although there is likely a very similar workaround for the newer console from Sony.

Hopefully, you’re getting the best out of your console!
