PlayStation Plus users praise 'underrated' survival horror

PlayStation Plus survival horror The Evil Within 2 has gained a lot of fans.

Survival horror games have had somewhat of a renaissance in 2023 as both new and old games released captured the attention of gamers. However, one of the best recent horror games is playable via a PlayStation Plus subscription.

The Evil Within 2 is a brilliant horror game that deserves lots of love and one recent player has taken to Reddit to spread the good word on this fantastic game.

The Evil Within 2 is loved by fans, almost as much as Resident Evil 4.

The conversation started when u/Cup-of-Noodle began a thread on Reddit saying, "The Evil Within 2 really scratches that survival horror itch." They're right. This horror sequel is, in turns, gory, brutal, and spooky. As the post said, "This game is like Resident Evil 4 and the Silent Hill series had a baby." The original poster finished the game and started "fanboying a bit" because they enjoyed it that much. They also wondered, "Why did I wait so long for this?"

The replies are just as enthusiastic, with some pointing out that the creative director on The Evil Within 2 had created Resident Evil, so the similarities are understandable. Plenty of players swarmed in saying how brilliant the game is, though many admit they weren't swayed by the first game: "Couldn’t get into [the first one], watched a recap and proceeded to play EW2. Now one of my favourite survival horror games up there (almost) with RE4 personally."

The appeal was easily summed up by u/Peter_Marny who said, "I really dug into main character's motives. Great music, satisfying stealth."

The game is available to play via PlayStation Plus and you don't need to have played the first part to get on with the sequel, though the full experience will be missing if you don't at least read up on the story of the first game.
