PlayStation Plus Surprise New Free Game Roasted: 'My Deepest Condolences'

PlayStation Plus subscribers are being given a truly exceptional horror game, which isn’t great news for those who probably just bought it.

While subscription services like PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass are usually pretty solid gaming deals, when the price doesn’t get increased for no good reason, you always run the risk of buying games outright only for them to appear on such a service.

I’ve done it, you’ve probably done it, I think we’ve all done it at some point. We buy a game and a day, week or month later it gets added to either PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass.

For PlayStation Plus subscribers one such game could be Silent Hill 2 (2024), the remake of the classic PlayStation game from 2001.

According to the latest leaks and rumours from Dealabs the recently added Alan Wake 2 will soon be joined by Silent Hill 2 (2024) much to the dismay of those who recently purchased it.

“My deepest condolences” said one Redditor who shared the news online.

Silent Hill 2 (2024) thoroughly impressed us last year but games are expensive so it’s understandable how some gamers might wait a while before buying something. In the case of Silent Hill 2 (2024) though the last few weeks have been prime time to add it to your collection, after all Halloween is right around the corner and last month’s Silent Hill f confirmed the series is officially back and better than ever.

Whether you bought the game at launch, fairly recently or not, there’s one thing we can all agree on, if it’s added to PlayStation Plus this could be the greatest month in the service’s long history.

“Easily one of the best months ever of PS Plus” agreed one commenter on the aforementioned Reddit thread, with another chiming in to say “Sheesh they absolutely cooked this month.”

“Oh yes. Alan Wake 2 and now SH2?” said one subscriber before continuing “I’m hyped. October is a great month. Too many good games this month. Enough to tide me over until Metroid in December.”

I’d be inclined to agree with these subscribers, it’s a pretty great month for PlayStation Plus especially if you wanted some neat horror games to play before Halloween. It’s also great timing after the latest Xbox Game Pass fiasco…
