November is fast approaching and a new month means the arrival of brand-new games to the PlayStation Plus subscription service.

With October’s selection of PlayStation Plus games being a bit underwhelming with fans wishing for spookier titles, it seems as though November is about to make up for it by bringing back a classic PlayStation release.

That’s right, it looks as though Sony is set to re-release the PlayStation 2-era God of War games as part of its classic selection.

This is perhaps no surprise considering the recent success of 2018’s God of War and its sequel, God of War Ragnarök which took the series to ancient Scandinavia as opposed to ancient Greece.

However, up until now, the original God of War and God of War 2 have remained on early PlayStation consoles so this will be the first time they will be available for PlayStation 5 users.

So you may be wondering why we know that God of War will be added to PlayStation Plus.

That is courtesy of one user over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours who noticed that a Greek-era Kratos icon had now been added to the PlayStation Plus tab.

“The PlayStation Plus tab on PS5 was recently updated to add easier navigation for games featured on Plus,” they explained.

“One of the changes was separating the classic emulated games into different pages by system and adding icon art for each one.

The PS2 section has a Greek-era Kratos icon yet there's no God of War games featured in the category.”

They also draw attention to the fact that the same thing happened with Dino Crisis’ recent arrival to PlayStation Plus.

A month before that, an icon of Regina was added.

So, if this is true, those with PlayStation Plus Premium subscriptions could get to enjoy the original God of War games as early as next month.

Exciting times indeed.
