Now if you’ve been following the story so far, you’ll know 2023 has been a rollercoaster for PlayStation’s subscription service, and not just because it’s more expensive now than it was at the start of the year. Each month regardless of your tier, players are given three free games to download and keep forever, though the last few months have disappointed time after time.

Not this month though, which has rounded off 2023 with a lovely little selection, one of which carries major Red Dead Redemption vibes, and will be a must-play for those who miss its Undead Nightmare DLC as well as classic zombie shooters like Left 4 Dead.

Evil West is a third-person-shooter that unleashes hordes of undead monsters upon the lawless land of the Wild West.

It’s fast-paced, looks gorgeous, and will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through, especially when you go toe-to-toe with some of the mammoth sized enemies trying to tear you apart.

Like most good shooters, there’s a stellar assortment of boomsticks and explosives to choose from, a collection that’d make Doom Guy swoon with its variation. Whether you favour more long-ranged armaments to stay out of harm’s way, or get up close and personal with a devastating shotgun, there’s a choice for just about every playstyle.

Joining Evil West will be two other titles, one being A Plague Tale: Requiem, and the other being Nobody Saves the World.

Evil West isn’t on the PlayStation Plus subscription service at the time of writing, but it will be on 2 January 2024, a great way to start the New Year off with a bang.
