PlayStation Plus subscribers puzzling over what to play next might want to stop and take a look at this gorgeous adventure that a lot of gamers have been sleeping on.

It's been a bit of a rollercoaster for PlayStation Plus of late, though I guess it almost always is. Some of the latest free downloads have gone down about as well as a fart in a lift, for one thing.

Still, there are some genuinely incredible games to be had on the service if you know what you're looking for. I think we can all agree PlayStation Plus is at its best when you're using it to check out the kinds of games you might not normally spend money on.

So it is that this underrated 2023 release - a mix of Skyrim and Call Of Duty - has managed to find an appreciative audience at last. I'm talking, of course, about the EA-published and Ascendant Studios-developed Immortals Of Aveum.

"Wow, Immortals of Aveum is seriously underrated," one new fan raved on the PlayStation Plus subreddit. "It's actually a blast to play, it's a Medal Of Honor or Call Of Duty but with magic.

"The facial expressions in the cinematics are top notch and the graphics are stunning. It even gives off vibes similar to Thief. The story is decent too."

Immortals Of Aveum didn't exactly set the world on fire when it launched, with mediocre sales and middling reviews. Still, it's nice to folk are coming round to its charms.

While many of the Reddit users in the above thread say takes far too long to get going, those who stick with it are in for a good time. That might be a lot to ask of many a time-poor gamers, of course, but if Immortals Of Aveum looks like something you might vibe with, maybe you should take a chance.
