One of the more recent additions to PlayStation Plus is being hailed by players as a ‘pure joy’ and garnering plenty of well-deserved recognition.

Sword of the Sea only hit the PlayStation subscription service recently, from Giant Squid, following on from stellar titles Abzu, and Journey.

With stunning visuals, engaging skateboard-esque gameplay, and accessible ways to play, it has become an instant hit with players.

Personally, I can attest to the game’s brilliance, losing an entire afternoon to its lush environments and sweeping soundtrack.

But, don’t just take my word for it, because fans are swooning over Sword of the Sea on Reddit, too.

The creator of the thread said this, “oh my god, how polished this game was. Everything felt like surfing through an art. Music was something you can't stop listening to, and visuals were something you couldn’t look away from.”

Pretty high praise, and they’re not the only one who was swept away by what they experienced.

“Played all in one sitting, and then immediately went back for a second play through,” replied one Redditor, who added, “The art style is gorgeous.”

Perhaps one of the best games added to PlayStation Plus this year, it’s an unmissable addition to the service.

The compliments kept coming, with one user saying, “Finished it last night and loved it a lot!”

Another backed up the praise, noting, “it was beautiful and relaxing.”

As with the rest of Giant Squid’s games, they really are an acquired taste, forcing the player to be mindful as they move through the world.

Taking only a few hours of your time, Sword of the Sea presents a gorgeous place to lose yourself and escape life, just noodling around on your sword, looking for wonders.

If you’ve got access to the game via PlayStation Plus, invest an evening in this one.
