PlayStation Plus first free game for May accidentally 'confirmed' early

Looks like someone at Sony messed up

We may now know one of the games that will be included in PlayStation Plus’ monthly games line-up for May, thanks to a potential oopsie on Sony’s behalf.

Some eagle-eyed folks over on the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit think they’ve spotted a bit of an error on the PlayStation Store that implies one specific game will be included as part of next month’s free PlayStation Plus monthly games.

When browsing through the PlayStation Plus section of the PlayStation Store, the “Monthly Games” tab should indicate which games are currently available as part of your PlayStation Plus Essential subscription.

However, several users spotted that one of the games featured on this page at the moment is one that isn’t currently, nor has ever been, available for subscribers: the PlayStation 5 version of Until Dawn.

“Given that the remake flopped and it will promote the new film, this potential leak would make sense,” commented user Affectionate_Bass931.

“This is the remake artwork. They’ve never given it as a monthly game, and only given the original as part of the Collection,” they continued.

“This seems like an early slip on Sony’s part to give us the remake (which flopped) to coincide with the film.”

It does make a lot of sense, considering that the film adaptation of Until Dawn will still be in cinemas by the time that May’s PlayStation Plus Monthly Games line-up drops.

However, it’s not entirely confirmed. Some users have stated that they’re seeing a completely different game teased through the PlayStation Store tab instead: It Takes Two.

Personally, I could see both of these titles dropping in the same month, so I don’t think one disproves the other. Here’s hoping that is the case too, because that would mean that May might end up being one of the best months for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers in years.
