One of PlayStation Plus’ premium tier’s biggest perks is the fact that it permits you to sample a ton of recent games, with ‘try before you buy’ becoming an increasingly important premise given how expensive major releases are these days. There are so many demos to choose from, with trials available for Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Cyberpunk 2077, God of War Ragnarök, Sonic Superstars, The Last of Us Part I, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, just to name a few. Recently, Alan Wake 2 joined that list - a fantastic 2023 GOTY contender.

Take a look at Alan Wake 2 in action below.

While Alan Wake 2 may have lost out on the 2023 GOTY win at The Game Awards, with the trophy going to Baldur’s Gate 3, it did win Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction. A quick trip over to Metacritic will confirm that the game is beloved by critics and players alike, with it boasting a critics score of 89 and a user score of 8.7.

Here at GAMINGbible, we awarded the game a score of nine, writing, “I’m glad to say that Alan Wake 2 is not only one of the best games of 2023 but it also surpasses the 2010 original in almost every way. It does everything you’d want from a sequel. Alan Wake 2 looks better, it plays better, it sounds better and it brings scares in abundance. Alan Wake 2 is another crown jewel in Remedy Entertainment’s library and a sequel that will delight fans.”

You can definitely enjoy Alan Wake 2 without having played the first game. That being said, if you’re unsure about dropping such a large wad of cash on the full game, give this demo a whirl. You’re in for a treat.
