Thousands of PlayStation Plus subscribers are probably completely unaware of one slightly hidden, definitely under-advertised library of freebies that come packaged with your subscription at no extra cost.

PlayStation Plus, regardless of which tier you pay for, isn’t exactly a cheap service, and yet it would seem that a majority of users aren’t taking advantage of one of the best reasons to actually have a subscription in the first place.

The Sony Picture Core app is, as the name might imply, a sort of mini-library of Sony produced films that can be watched at no extra cost - if you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber, that is.

Personally I never even realised this came packaged alongside a PS Plus Premium subscription, and based on the comments over in a thread on the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit, a lot of people had no idea this was even a thing until today either.

“Wait. We get free movies also?!? I never knew that,” commented user Last_Ronin69.

“Didn’t even know this existed…” replied user Longjumping-Moose-77.

Now anyone who considers themselves a bit of a cinema buff might wince at the thought of the films that could be included on the Sony Picture Core app, but there are actually a few bangers in here.

District 9, Kung Fu Hustle, Adaptation, House of Flying Daggers, Paprika, Predestination - the list is endless! Ok well actually I lied, those are most of the good ones.

However, the list does vary quite a lot based on where you’re watching from. One user has collated a list of the titles available in the United States, but that won’t be of much use to folks in Europe.

And, based on some comments I read in that thread, the service isn’t even actually available in a bunch of places (like for instance India).

Still, it may be worth having a browse through if you pay for PlayStation Plus Premium anyway. Gotta make sure you get your money’s worth considering it costs around £120 a year.
