This doesn’t normally happen, but sometimes we get what we’ve been begging for. This is that moment.

PlayStation has confirmed that Steam integration with the PSVR 2 is happening.

We can scarcely believe it either.

Even more so considering how quiet Sony has been about this major integration, yet it is going ahead according to Steam.

The PSVR 2 app will launch on 6 August for Steam users, with the PC adapter launching a day later on the 7 August.

Being able to play games previously unavailable is welcomed by PC users, as they begin to prepare for the world of VR possibilities that just opened up to them.

Make sure you watch the Planet Coaster 2 trailer before you go

With both the PC adapter and PSVR 2 Steam app, you’ll be able to start adventuring through virtual worlds with ease.

Once set up, you’ll be able to do the following, as per the PSVR 2’s Steam page:

  • Play VR games and apps on Steam using your PlayStation VR2 headset and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.
  • Set up your PlayStation VR2 on your PC.
  • Update the firmware for your PlayStation VR2 headset and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.
  • Adjust settings for your PlayStation VR2 from the SteamVR dashboard, including setting your play area and screen brightness.

Exciting though this is, those who prefer to stick with their PS5 are in for a treat as well, for Sony has announced new tech.

The stunning new hardware has surprised us, though it’s a pleasant surprise all the same. And, unlike Xbox’s cheeky new controllers, you can purchase this.

All in all, we’d say it’s a fantastic time to be a PlayStation fan.

Just remember, you can’t enjoy this marriage between two platform greats until early August; we have a slight wait on our hands yet.

Still, it’s only a matter of days before we get to use our PSVR 2 with Steam. Hurray!
