PlayStation gamers urged to claim free store credit they're owed

Secure those points

In case you aren’t aware, PlayStation stars can be earned by completing certain requirements via the PlayStation phone app. These are then redeemed for a variety of rewards including digital items, games, and store credit.

It’s a little-known service, but one that many gamers are beginning to take advantage of due to a collection of genuinely nice digital items that can be viewed through your phone. It’s been discussed on Reddit that some players were missing their stars earned throughout the festive period of Christmas and New Year. However, a little pressure on the support staff of PlayStation will see those stars delivered to you.

Reporting back on Reddit is u/birrakilmister who says that if players were given a case number for the issue of not getting their stars, they can report it to the live service chat and they might be able to dish out the rewards retroactively.

Another user replied that they also had the issue and eventually got their rewards, “I also just got my points back. Got an email a few minutes ago from Playstation support saying they added the missing points to my account. I had been waiting since Dec 28th.” While this is an isolated issue, it’s worth checking to see if you missed out on stars during the festive period as these could be all you need for some funds towards a new game or a cool item for your collection. If you’ve had this issue, definitely raise it with Sony’s support service.

Stars are earned by meeting certain criteria, or by simply purchasing games through the digital store. If you head into the PlayStation app you can check your reward level and will be able to grab yourself a game that could cost several thousand stars or wallet funds that can be spent on anything you choose.
