If you’re a fan of Horizon Zero Dawn, then you’re in for a treat with its upcoming remaster.

Developed by Guerilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn was originally released in 2017 for the PlayStation 4, and other than being a fantastic game with a gripping story from start to finish, it’s also one of the best-looking games in years, even when being played on the last-gen console.

Check out the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered trailer below!

“Experience Aloy’s entire legendary quest to unravel the mysteries of a world ruled by deadly machines,” reads the synopsis of Horizon Zero Dawn. “An outcast from her tribe, the young hunter fights to uncover her past, discover her destiny… and stop a catastrophic threat to the future.”

Then in 2020, Horizon Zero Dawn arrived on PC with the Complete Edition which included The Frozen Wilds expansion (PS4 also got the same release). As you might expect with a PC port, this version came with loads of fancy bells and whistles for gaming systems to take full advantage of.

However, during this week’s State of Play event and following months of rumours, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was announced for PC and PlayStation 5. This newly enhanced version of the game comes with improved visuals such as character models, textures, resolution and framerates.

What’s more, it comes with an additional 10 hours of audio conversation and improved motion capture. It’s also been optimised to take advantage of the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

All in all, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered looks to be quite an impressive upgrade and better still, if you own the game already on PC and PlayStation 4, you can upgrade to this snazzy new version for just £10. Oh, and all your progress will carry over.

The £10 upgrade is for all versions of Horizon Zero Dawn, including those who acquired it for free with Sony’s Play At Home initiative during the COVID pandemic in 2020. Understandably, gamers on Reddit are impressed with this generosity.

“Now that I know it's a $10 upgrade, I'll probably get it,” said Arktos22 with brolt0001 adding “Wait, that's amazing!”

“I cannot wait to play this again. One of my favourite games ever,” exclaimed Jackie1616 and DaNoahLP said “Dope, W for Sony!”

At the time of writing, there is no confirmation whether existing trophies will pop when transferring save data. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered arrives on PC and PlayStation 5 on 31 October 2024.
