PlayStation gamers urged to claim bonus free download while they can

PlayStation gamers have been urged to claim this bonus free download for one of the best titles in recent years.

Recently, we’ve been blessed with some amazing video games. Just a few titles from the top of my head are Baldur’s Gate 3, Silent Hill 2 remake and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth to name a few.

Check out the God of War Ragnarök trailer below!

One other amazing game is the follow-up to the 2018 soft reboot, God of War Ragnarök from Sony PlayStation developer, Santa Monica Studio released in 2022.

In our review of God of War Ragnarök, we said it’s: “a fantastically impressive sequel that delivers in every conceivable way. It expands on and improves the formula established in 2018’s God of War hugely, offering up blistering action, gut-wrenching twists, and truly cinematic boss battles with real emotional heft behind them.”

Then in 2023, when we thought God of War Ragnarök couldn't get any better, Santa Monica Studio released the epilogue DLC, Valhalla set in the heavenly Asgard of Norse mythology where Kratos comes to terms with his past.

Sony and Santa Monica Studio could have easily charged £10 or £15 for the Valhalla DLC and it would have represented good value for money. However, this DLC was made free to the delight of God of War fans across the world.

The latest additions to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium library were announced on 15 January 2025 which included a total of 11 games. One of those games is the aforementioned God of War Ragnarök.

Unlike titles included in the PS Plus Essential tier which remain in your library with an active subscription, Extra and Premium titles come and go on a rotational basis. As such, it’s unlikely God of War Ragnarök will remain in the library forever (but it will probably return).

“Reminder: There's free DLC for God of War Ragnarök titled Valhalla, which is set after the game. If you're grabbing the game, don't forget the DLC,” Reddit user Nearby-Pie5798 urged.

“Thanks for the reminder. I completed Ragnarök but sold the disc before the DLC came out. Time to check it out,” said Rututu.

“Doesn't it just come with the game? I am pretty sure it was a normal update back then,” asked AC13clean to which scusemoi86 replied, “It's a separate download available via the PS Store.”

God of War Ragnarök is out now on PC and PlayStation.
