With the years speeding by at a rapid pace, it is sometimes easy to forget some of the incredible video games which have had their time in the spotlight.

However, there is no better feeling than returning to a game that you once loved but have since forgotten about and luckily, PlayStation is giving users the chance to do exactly that.

Not only that but this is the perfect way to check out an underrated gem which you would have otherwise missed entirely.

The game in question is Islets, a 2022 wholesome Metroidvania which still sits at an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ rating on Steam all these years later.

Developed by Kyle Thompson, Islets will see you take to the skies of a fragmented world as you help the adorable Iko battle across beautiful hand-painted islands.

With powerful monstrous adversaries and a quirky cast of characters, Islets is an underrated gem and luckily, you can grab it for free right now.

Before that, let us learn a bit more about this stunning Metroidvania title.

“Iko is an aspiring yet hopeful warrior exploring the land and sky to reunite a series of floating islands,” the official PlayStation synopsis reads.

“With his rickety airship, he must travel from island to island in order to reignite each one’s magnetic core while fighting off the many adversaries standing in his way.”

With the story focusing on the connections that we build with one another, Islets is more than just a battle-focused Metroidvania as it will be up to you to reunite the fractured islands, make friends and search every nook and cranny to face the world’s challenges.

Featuring epic boss battles, head-scratching puzzles, an upgrade system, a wide cast of charming characters and a visually stunning hand-painted world, you cannot miss out on Islets for the second time.

Luckily, a demo for Islets is now available on the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 5 users.

The demo features the first world of the game up until you gain your airship so it is the perfect opportunity to get a feel for it before making the full purchase.

Islets currently sits at a 4.44 rating on the PlayStation Store and so it is safe to say that this demo will probably see you grabbing the full game and if you just so happen to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you can grab it at a 20% discount for a limited time.
