PlayStation fan-favourite feature is completely and utterly broken, fans complain

One of Sony PlayStation’s most popular features has been down for weeks and despite the issue being addressed, it’s still not been fixed.

At the beginning of June, just in time for Sony’s big Days of Play promotion, its rewards scheme, PlayStation Stars, was down with no sign of when it might return. Sony had addressed the issue last week (about a week or two after it went down) with no meaningful details provided, and we’ve had no update since that time.

Check out the PS Stars trailer below!

PlayStation Stars rewards players with points by completing simple objectives such as playing certain games, mostly related to the latest PS Plus inclusions or by acquiring certain in-game trophies. You can also earn loads of points for every purchase that you make via the digital PlayStation Store.

The points that you earn can be spent on digital collectables to proudly display on your PlayStation Mobile app profile. However, more importantly, you can also redeem points to claim free video games or PlayStation Store credit to spend how you please.

Sony even had special campaigns inspired by its Days of Play event by playing select PS Plus titles and with so many discounts available via the PlayStation Store, the timing of its PS Stars featuring going down couldn't happen at a worse time. For example, not only are we missing out on campaign points but I’m sure some gamers are holding out on making PlayStation Store purchases until Sony gets PS Stars back on track.

As you can imagine, fans are not happy. “PlayStation Stars points might be broken despite Sony’s assurances,” said Redditor Freespur.

“I feel someone pressed delete and lost the program and it doesn't have a backup,” replied loscassidy76 with imnoobatfifa adding “Especially for a company as big as Sony - with so many daily users and resources. Just unacceptable.”

“Damn this is actually a pretty huge deal, I had a TON of points saved up that I wanted to use for upcoming releases with vouchers. They really need to fix this ASAP,” exclaimed Listonosh. Some fans have even suggested that Sony has fallen victim to hackers once more (which is unfounded speculation at this time).

Yet, while we can’t complete campaigns and earn points right now until PS Stars is fixed, Reddit user karimbmn shared details provided by Sony on how we can at least access the points we have to let us know that they’ve not been deleted.

In the PlayStation Mobile app, go to your profile and select Privacy. From here, scroll down and select ‘Access Your Personal Information’ and click on ‘Data Access Request’. You will then be emailed those details and once the URL is open, you can see your PS Stars points history.

Hopefully, Sony will provide a substantial update in the coming days and get PlayStation Stars up and running once more. We’ll keep you updated once we hear of further developments.
