PlayStation 6 design leak has left fans feeling pretty torn

Not everyone's cup of tea

The PlayStation 6 may feel like years away, but trust us it’s actually a lot closer than you’d think, and fans have something to say about it.

Feels like we’ve had enough console news as of late with the Nintendo Switch 2, a console probably won’t match what its competitors are doing in terms of power and graphics but was needed nonetheless.

Take a look at Nintendo’s announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2 below, an official Direct will shed more light on it in the coming months

PlayStation though is clearly intent on charging ahead with yet another superior console, ushering out a console generation that’s brought nothing but missed opportunities and disappointment depending on who you ask.

According to leakers like Kepler_L2, Sony has already finalised the design for what will likely be called the PlayStation 6, with a potential release date of 2027.

Yes, that's two years away but that time will fly by faster than you might think, and it hardly feels like we’ve had a new console generation to show for it.

The PlayStation 6 leak quickly found its way to Reddit, where fans have shared their thoughts on the upcoming console and what it’ll mean for gaming as a hobby.

“Imagine PS6 launching in 2027 and those PS6 games would not only get PS5 versions, but ALSO PS4 versions” said one fan, something I think we’ve all thought of when considering the next console generation.

Others worried a new console will come out only for it to be clogged with remasters and remakes of PlayStation ⅘ games, saying “Something something I’ve played these game before something.”

Finally one commenter said “this generation has really been a total wash hardware wise, and frankly I don't see it ending with the next generation.”

Take the PlayStation 6 news with a pinch of salt, but judging from PlayStation’s current output it feels inevitable that it’d already be looking ahead to the next big hardware launch.
