We’ve barely got to grips with the PlayStation 5 Pro being a thing, yet PlayStation 6’s launch year is looming ever large.

Rumour has it that it’ll be released sooner than we thought, which hasn’t gone down well with PlayStation users.

An article by ComicBook has been shared on r/TwoBestFriendsPlay in which it suggests a “possible” launch date for the PS6.

That date is 2027.

“No,” replied Sad_Inspector8124, perfectly summarising how everyone feels about this rumour.

Much like when Sony revealed that PS5 is in its death throes as it nears the end of its cycle, gamers are angered at how much potential has been wasted with current gen consoles.

“Way too early imo, this gen feels like it needs another two years on top of that due to covid at least,” Bluefootedtpeack2 added.

It’s true that this generation has felt rushed, underwhelming, and all over the place. And while the pandemic can be blamed for some of that, fans also believe that Sony needs to shoulder some of the responsibility too.

Redditor LeonSigmaKennedy references this in their post, accusing Sony of wasting time on live service “garbage”.

“Covid and Sony forcing half of it'ssStudios to waste the last half decade making live-service multiplayer garbage that all got cancelled, leading to a dearth of first-party exclusives.”

What undoubtedly frustrates gamers the most is how much we’ll all realise the power of the PS5 once the PS6 arrives. The good old ‘the grass is always greener’ idiom will be in full effect that day.

“This generation has really been a total wash hardware wise, and frankly I don't see it ending with the next generation,” timelordoftheimpala argued.

“Watch as they figure out all the cool shit you can do with a PS5 or Xbox Series the moment next-gen comes by.”

Oftentimes, gamers are criticised for being temperamental; however, in this instance, their reaction to this PS6 rumour seems fair.

That being said, everyone could be roasting Sony for no good reason, as Sony has yet to confirm any PS6 launch date speculation. In truth, it likely won’t.
